This is a one off review of the All By the Book method published by Steve Davison. Sometimes, once in a while methods come along that are full of logic and bs free and most importantly work- this is one such method.
All By The Book is a very different system to the normal systems that I am used to reviewing. The system is purely mathematical and it seems to work as detailed in the system manual. The manual itself is fairly slim (9 pages), but it doesn’t contain the usual padding – instead, it gets straight down to describing the system and two methods for how to apply it. There is an associated video that goes through the system in detail and you can also download a spreadsheet to help you with some of the calculations.
The system relies on using bookies that offer Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG), and you are basically looking for a winner that has drifted between the time that the bets were placed and the starting price offered. The system determines what races to target and how to identify when to place your bets. This is an interesting system where the gains can be very significant, but where the losses are severely limited. If a total of £100 was bet on the race, then the maximum loss would be around the £3.00 mark – often much less.
The system manual suggests that you start looking for qualifying races at about noon and the system, therefore, favours people who are able to monitor the markets throughout the day.
Two concerns about the method are:
1) you need accounts with all of the BOG bookies – and, depending on the level of stakes that you want to use – you need to have sufficient funds in each of the bookies accounts to ensure that you can get the bets on;
2) it can take some time to get the bets on (there is no way to automate the process) and sometimes the window for getting the bets on can be quite small. Whilst this is not a problem most of the time, there are occasions where the odds move sufficiently quickly to make the race no longer a qualifying race. The best bet under these circumstances is just to carry on getting the bets on at the adjusted odds. I’m not sure if the odds are being affected by the number of people following the system, but that is definitely something to keep an eye on.
Overall, I have been impressed with this system. It is nice to come across something new and especially pleasing to see it make such a healthy return. All By The Book, therefore, merits a status of Approved.
Update 28th November 2010, it has come to my attention that BOG bookmakers are aware of this system and are now blocking peoples accounts that are using it meaning any value from the system is short lived.

Sounded very good but the last paragraph stating that the bookies are aware of the system and blocking accounts surely is the death of this system. Am I correct.
Hi Brendan, that is something that I cannot answer as I dont use the system personally, but yes on the face of things it would appear so.
blocking accounts… they often closing profitable accounts so there is a lot pluses but how ever is minuses to much …
I can confirm this one has a limited shelf-life. Even using half the recommended stakes I was limited by most of the bookies. I did make money for a while so it was worth doing but you will get stopped by the bookies. The same applies for anyone whose account is deemed ‘not to be profitable or may not be profitable in the future.’
