Betting Scams

This page is devoted to unearthing all of the scams, scam artists and otherwise deceitful, underhand thieves who operate in the betting systems world. Note, these are not necessarily real names, most may in fact be pseudonyms. The following is by no means an exhaustive list, and we will add to it as regularly as necessary. In the meantime, if you have your own suggestions, please leave a comment.

Benjamin Street :- A number of Benjamin’s systems have already been reviewed here, I’ve  finally had enough!

Read more here

Walter Samuels :- I think we have only reviewed one of Mr Samuel’s products. One too many perhaps!

Read more here

Josh Peters :- I received an email from Josh under the guise of “High Gravity Design Team” promoting the Sure Bettor Software which left a lot to be desired ( read here ), I looked at the bottom of the email and discovered that this was the same ” person ” as is behind the Betting Commander System which I actually went on to approve. Disappointing to say the least but anyone releasing a product like Sure Bettor deserves to be named here.

Matthew Fisher:- Another pseudonym promoting Sure Bettor Software

Iain Lewington:- The name is famous, just Google ” Iain Lewington Scam” . Normally I wouldnt get involved in that type of speculation but the former owner of Betting System Reviews closed his own Tipster site  right in the middle of my live test leaving people out a fortune by not refunding their subscription fees.

Aiden Collins:- Owner of Gold Lay, JCA Racing & AJ Tips. One of the biggest scams in recent times.

Read more here

Colin Davey:- Colin has been around longer than the internet and still sends most of his communications by ‘snail mail’. He has made millions with generally false promises, requesting the respondent send a cheque or credit card details in the reply paid envelope. Avoid.

Martin Raymond:- Very sharp ‘upsell’ practitioner. Doesn’t publish full results. A number of sites including More Money Review have reader comments implying that different members get different tips. As soon as he tips you a winner, he’s on the phone trying to sell you into a higher priced service.

This one quote (from over 400 comments on the chap) particularly stuck with me:

Hi All, had a really good chat with Martin earlier in the week. As Steve mentioned, MR also confirmed to me that given the way bookies react to his business he simply can’t have all his on one horse if the market isn’t strong enough. He went to explain that in the majority of cases the various groups will get the same horse, but sometimes if the market is weak he’ll have to make a judgement call as to which group gets what. He put my mind at rest as he explained that everyone will get the quality and that ultimately he is here to do his best for all and that everyone client/group that will make a profit.

Even though Raymond admitted to giving different people different tips, this poor victim believed the ‘cock and bull’ excuse, and has probably gone on to lose a lot more money since.

Martin Raymond appears to be shameless, and you should steer well clear of both his email / internet and traditional ‘through the letterbox’ mail promotions.

Bob Rothman:- Although Rothman is undoubtedly a punter himself, he makes his money from selling tips. He quotes stakes which, for most people, are simply unrealistic and has no problem with the amount of thousands punters lose following his tips, even after they’ve paid his initial exorbitant fees.

Rothman’s online promotions come under the website banner, horseracingpro.co.uk, and the results pages there don’t actually show any results. They also don’t run beyond August of this year.

Again, avoid both online and offline promotions from a man who may be worse for your health than the nicotine sticks that carry the same name.

Rochdale Road Gang‘:- Difficult to pin down by name, because they use more pseudonyms than the French Resistance in WWII. Basically, you can generally spot their products from the way the websites look. Recently, they’ve been using actor stooges to present videos, and their products have been selling for £27.

Then there’s the fake betfair screenshots that are almost ubiquitous on their webpages; the ‘Wait. Before you go’ intrusive pop-up windows that offer a discount when you try to leave the page, and so on.

Alway sold through Clickbank, generally always requiring an email address before delivering the product (so that they can sell you their next crock of crap using yet another different pseudonym).

These are the original – and still the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) – serial ebook offenders.

Unsubscribe, and continue to unsubscribe. NEVER be drawn in by Betfair screenshots or promises of idle riches.

More scam artists, scumbags and pseudonymous sneaks will be added as time goes by. In the meantime, feel free to add your own suspected villains by leaving a comment below.

  1. Alan White says:

Back in August I paid £175, with a further £175 to be paid when £2,000 profit had been made, for a system called The New Wealth Creating Racing System, vendor Richard Gibson, aka Richard Mark. A refund for which I applied was refused, the returned manuals were returned to me by Royal Mail “addressee gone away”. Eventually Paypal found in my favour and refunded. I can find no reference to the system on any sites like yours and it was not even mentioned on the vendor`s own website. I believe he also had a football system about ten years ago. A distinctly shady character, but the manuals were well-produced.

  2. Mark Hudson says:

    Ian Burrows

This guy doesnt even have a website he just asks you to send cash to his bank account
He as far as I can see just makes up a series of great results then does a big promotion asking you to send him money then week after makes up another series of great results for another named service asking for more money. The results never ever live up to the ones just before he told us about them – surprise surprise!
Ive been stung once by him – never again – avoid at ALL costs
Plnety of people out there with scam websites but this guy hasnt even got a website and I should have known better.

    • Bryan Jones says:

      Ian Burrows.
This guy did have a web site once and on the strength of past results I did subscribe for a Month.
The past results where obviously false, and the web site went of before the month was up.
He is now promoting The Each Way King for £200 for a year.At the bottom of his Emails is an address in Hampshire but if you check the post code you can see it is false.
P.S.Just got an Email saying the price goes up at midnight, the man is an absolute rogue.

      • bob says:

Does anyone know Ian burrows address as l bought a year subscription

to EACH WAY KINGS but he does not return emails and l paid cash into his bank account.

or if they have heard of EACH WAY KINGS run by INSIDERCLUB.

        Many Thanks
        Bob

  3. Paul Bunn says:

Who is this man? He appears to be some kind of affiliate? who pedals “rubbish” I would be interested to know if anyone has been emailed by this guy??
The latest system hes sent is Become a Millionaire using Blackjack?

  4. Dee says:

    Hi
I used to get a spate of emails from about 4 or 5 people all selling the same system. Priced at £27 or £37 each time. I unsuscribed from them all but it took some to get rid of them. Any advice they gave you could google and don’t we all know how to back a single, double, treble and accumulator? Why spend 5 pages on types of bets and how to use Betfair? Avoid like the plague
    Regards
    Dee

  5. Simon Evans says:

You seem to have covered the main offenders but theres also a ‘Luke Sniper’ out there – the very name reads ‘Scam’ in bold, to my mind. I was taken in by Bob Rothman as his first tip to me won, then things went pear shaped. Does he really go about in a top hat and live in a mansion ?- must be all those subs he collects up and down the land.

  6. Sam says:

Hi Simon, I have seen the name Luke Sniper but I cannot think what it is that he promotes.

  7. Bob says:

“Luke Sniper” promotes the “Betting Sniper” System. I seem to remember this one being given the thumbs down in the past, but the use of the name Luke SNIPER suggests scam to me.

  8. Daniel Stone says:

Yet another scam run by this guy, WALTER SAMUELS. He claims to have an angle on all National Hunt racing during the winter months. Another one for the Summer months. I checked him out with the Gambling Systems review who do much like yourselves. They said get your money back asap this guy is a complete scam artist.
They were right, I followed his ideas for one day this week everyone lost. Yet he claims never to have had more than one losing bet in a row. Well I just had 5 on the trot. AVOID HIM.

  9. will says:

Ian Burrows is a true scam artist and was at one time involved with promoting Bet Fan Products has well VWD Lottery syndicate and many of his own scams. Don’t get involved with him.

  10. Betfan Admin says:

Just like to say that Ian Burrows now has no connection at all to Betfan and his affiliate account has been closed.

  11. Dee says:

Ian Burrows runs Ultimate insider, has promoted for Winning ways, runs Lucky 15, an Asian betting service, a greyhound service and an each way service to name but a few. Isubscribed to Insider but found the tips he gave differed from the the ones he advertised as winners when he was looking for subscribers, He obviously does not keep his promotional emails seperate from his subscriber list.
To be fair, I have had some good priced winners. I will not however subscribe again.

  12. Dee says:

‘Benjamin is currently promoting a system for his friend ‘Wes’. It offers a greyhound system, a horse racing system and a football system all for £15. Anyone tried it? It is ‘under the radar’ so the big boys don’t get it!!!! Comes from Isle of Wight

  13. Mj says:

AVOID THIS SITE.newstelsports.com.. ITS UNDER CONSTRUCTION NOW… PAID £999 FOR THIS SERVICE FOR ONE YEARS PLAT BETS AND ALL IN ALL HAD ONLY 5 WINNING BETS FROM A TOTAL OF 30. REALLY DISAPPOINTED. HAD A GUARANTEE TO PAY MONEY BACK IF TARGET PROFIT NOT MET. OBVIOUSLY DIDN’T MEET TARGET SO WHEN CONTACTED TO SEND MONEY BACK, IT DID NOT HAPPEN AND NOW IS HARD TO FIND OR GET HOLD OF EITHER. ANYONE HEARD OF THIS COMPANY OR HAVE ANY DETAILS REGARDING GETTING MONEY BACK PLS DO INFORM HERE.

    MANY THANKS.

    Mj

  14. Dee says:

Matthew Fisher is opoerating under Betting Review Team and offering software discounted from £97 to £27

  15. Dee says:

How about Robert Hessner? He advertises free software but when you click it is £7 reduced from £67

  16. Dee says:

It is also being done by Donald Hagner

  17. Adenubi Bolaji says:

    Hi,
Love your reviews on some sites because I have been fooled by some people out there in the U.K.

The reason for my mail today is that I have a site I am interested in, Ayutomated Bets by George Greyman. I will like to know if it is Legit or not before it closes.

    Thanks.

    Adenubi Bolaji

  18. Mark Hudson says:

For the record Ian Burrows is now running a site called Wanna Win – A lay site that looks as though it is back claiming results again. Looking at the blog (if the comments are genuine) then looks like he is still getting people to join his cons – still owes me 12 months tips for another service! Wonder how long this one will last

  19. Rupert says:

I tried Automated Bets during January and February. Its a total scam. It in no way reflects the sales pitch or screen shots. AVOID!!

    • john preece says:

Hi Eddie I am having same problem getting re-fund.This outfit seemed genuine until you try to get what they advertise. Cheers

    • Daveyboy says:

Kachina, Chris Beek, has not refunded me either for a service that won no money.

He keeps saying that he has posted a cheque but it never arrives.

      AVOID this con man.

      Daveyboy

  21. Philip Martin says:

Has anyone had dealings with ” Whitbury Manor Stud” ?Had a mail shot this morning.

    • Sam says:

Hi Philip, could you forward me the email to sam@onlineracingreview.com and I will investigate.

      • Rory says:

        Dear Sam,
have a look at my comment on Whitbury manor Stud, I had a letter this morning asking me to telephone me on wensday the 10th August, they say i will use their money not mine, also do you know mark ‘The Couch’ Whinstanlys betting club? i have lost a lot of money in the last month.

    • steve says:

philip dont do it they use your money and you send them the winnings less commision but if it looses its your loss.

    • Rory says:

I have had a letter from Whitbury Manor Stud, saying that they will pay me to place bids on their 50 horses across the UK, does anyone know who these people are, also I paid £100.00 to be a member of Mark ‘THE COUCH’ Whinstanly, betting club, as of a months betting I lost well over a thousand pounds !!

    • Stephen says:

With regard to Whitbury Manor Stud. I recieved a letter from them. When I looked them up on the net I couldnt find them listed in Manchester and, I couldn’t find a BT listing for them. I couldn’t find a web site for them. I could not find them or Dr Peter Harrington listed as trainers or owners on raceform interactive. The telephone number they give you is a mobile number. In short I couldn’t find any thing to authenticate them. The nearest thing I could find was Whitsbury Manor Stud but, it obviously wasn;t them.

    • philip pratley says:

whitbury manor stud………bit suspicious to me. Had an identical letter few years back, same story, same signature. Sounded too good to be true – and was! Got conned rotten. Avoid.
Headed paper not kosha. No landline number. No list of Directors or partners. Cannot trace this organisation on Google. Give it the big E

    • craig says:

I also got a letter today but was concerned by the fact that you had to call them on a mobile and they give you a set date on which to contact them to get involved. Then I noticed it was not on a company letterhead, they just laser printed onto a higher quality paper. I checked the postcode they had given and this turned out to be a hotel on the same street. I found no listing for them anywhere in Manchester. I checked the envelope and noticed the postmark is for Gatwick Mail Centre so this was not even sent locally as I live 30 miles from Manchester.

I have reported this via the fraudstoppers website and even given them the link to this page for additional information to help them as some people have contacted them and lost out.

  22. michael bernard says:

i am coming to the end of my second month after paying £34 for a 3 month subscription with
a chap called herbie fogg who is a tipster with keyracing as i said 2months of his tips as today
he has given six winners out of 61 horses when i emailed him for a refund he came back with the
story that one has to put up with the loosing runs etc and he doesnt give refunds and as i had payed through paypal i put a claim into them but herbie must have told them a pack of lies
and closed the claim yours m bernard

  23. simon says:

What about CHRIS ARCHER ? hes the biggest crook going!!

  24. Ian B says:

There is an organised group of conmen who have operated : Neil Ellis Racing, KFM, Jack Kavanagh, Charters Racing Club, Sam Carter, Rose Hill Racing, Alternative Strategy Racing, Philip Rogers, Lingfield Racing Club and right now Buckingham Racing Club. Forgive me if I have missed any !

All of the above have offered free trials, then ask you to join, then write to you again under the new guise. Absolutely useless tipsters, and patently the same people when you ring up the office. They never say who they are when they answer the phone because they are operating multiple clubs. I have exposed them on various forums and they have issued personal threats against me.

The registered addresses they give are just mailboxes. I suspect them to be based out of an office somewhere in Surrey judging by their accents. They offer no email or internet site so that they can just disappear without trace if need be.

  25. Patricia Clay says:

Has anyone heard of OLM Pty Ltd? They are operating from Brisbane and offering a system for AUD8,900. You then put in another AUD10,000 for your betting pool and are “guaranteed” to win heaps each month (like 2 or 3K).. Too good to be true??

  26. Ian B says:

Avoid like the plague Patricia, you will be told that your horse has won big and that you need to send more money for another gamble. Then they will stop answering your emails/letters/calls etc.. and diisappear.

  27. jon says:

grey samuels, avoid like the plague

  28. Ian says:

aNyone come across the betting booster fully automated system ??
I bought this system thinking it was a fully automated system as advertised
To my mind fully automated is something you set up and leave ,not the case with this system
Its basically a dutching system which chases losing runs by betting more money.
I also signed up for the free tipping service which goes with the system and I have not received one tip!!!
I have emailed several times for a refund without success, although I did get a reply asking why !!! Even though it is advertised as full refund guaranteed no questions asked no proof required.
I just wondered if anyone had used it ? or tried for a refund ? He is also the producer of betting mechanic I think

  29. Alan White says:

Betting Booster was so blatantly a scam that Paypal/Clickbank are refunding by return. Nobody received the tips, nobody thought a dutching calculator could be described as “100% autopilot” and there was just no need for any investigation. Apply to Paypal and as soon as they see the words Betting Booster your refund will be on its way to you.

  30. Bill Ellis says:

    Hi,
If you ever receive a letter from Broadwater Bloodstock with an address in Manchester and signed by a Dr. Peter Yeoman who proclaims to be a respected racing consultant with 50 racing horses in training in the UK do not respond to it, it is fraud and scam of the highest order.

Phone Number given as 07909 638 275. only on answer machine.

I lost many thousands to this person, all cash and was a fool. Don’t you do it and pass it on to stop others getting done.

    Regards
    Bill

    • Sue Reid says:

      Hi Bill,

I did receive this – my partner rang the number (not the one above), and spoke to someone who took a message. Cutting a long story short, this man rang us on Saturday, and siad he would pay us to put bets on for him, reimbursing us and still paying us a fee if it lost. We did put a total of three bets on using our own money. One won but overall there was a loss, and he rang us staight back to confirm our details for the refund to be delivered by bankers draft today. Hasn’t arrived yet…..

If this is a scam, how does it work? And what does he gain? If all three had won – and they were all well backed, two had been recommended to me that morning by a reputable tipping service as ones to watch – I would have won serious money, which I would have paid to him less my fee, but had I decided to keep it he would have got nothing. As it was, as far as I can see, the only person to win was the bookie – unless these guys are being paid by the bookies….?

if you have any further info I’d be most interested to hear it….

    • WHT says:

      Hi Bill

Thank you for your post. I have recievd the same letter but with this mobile number: 07786 109617.

Peter has called me today asking me to hand over £6000 to a courier! He has given me another mobile number that he is answering if you want to try and get hold of him:
however, I am sure he will change this one by the end of the day!

      • Bill Ellis says:

        Hi Sue and WHT,
We need to stop this lot.
        Do not pay them anything.
we may be able to find out who he is through the courier.
It would need the police to be there when courier arrives but don,t pay anything.
Discuss it with the police before doing anything and don,t risk yourself by going alone.

This is a total scam. The more publicity we give it the better.
I contacted Graham Green of the Racing Post newsroom and gave him the details
and he has other similar letters letters from the past.
Graham wrote an article about how I was scammed in the Racing Post on February 2nd.

If any letter comes through an airport mail room tear it up. Mine came through Gatwick.

        Good luck
