Flat Ratings Pro Final Review

Flat Ratings Pro Review

Flat Ratings Pro is the brainchild of Steve Ransford and  offers tips sent by e-mail in the early hours of the morning of racing so the selections can be placed and left for the day. There is also a website where the selections are posted.

When I began the trial Flat Ratings Pro on this season’s all-weather boasted 32 winners from 50 races targeted and a profit of 55.24 points. Recently there have also been occasional selections on the turf and the website now boasts figures of 103 races, 61 winners and profits of 46.51 Points.

The author recommends a 100 point bank with level stakes of 1 point on each selection. There are multiple selections on each targeted race which are placed at a given value price only.  I used a £1000 mythical bank staking £10 on each selection.

Flat Ratings Pro could be joined for a one-off fee of £64.99 which ran until the end of the all-weather racing season on 31st March, 2011. The service then offered selections through until the end of April for £32.99. The author says that membership is capped and once the limit is reached no other members will be taken on at any price. I don’t have any details as to whether there will be a further service through the summer months.

Now to the crux of the matter. I must admit I had misgivings about this one as soon as I began, but decided to keep personal opinions to myself and let the figures do the talking. But, now the results are in and the trial has run the full 90 days I feel entitled to give my thoughts.

The main reservation I had with this service was the concept of value. All gamblers know that if we can get value on a selection often enough that we will make money overall. But, what happens to that value if we try to back five horses in the same race and one of them doesn’t get matched? In my humble opinion the value on the overall selection process is then negated because the horse that didn’t get the value price matched could go on to win the race leaving us with a loss on the other four horses. Surely to get value from multiple selections we must dutch them and get an overall value price to have any chance of making long-term profits. I’m no expert so please feel free to put me in my place.

After 90 days the final results are:

54 Selections

28 Winners

Overall Loss of 14.216 Points or £142.16

Highest Bank £1200.13 (Day 45)

Lowest Bank £857.84 (Day 90)

In light of the above figures I must consign Flat Ratings Pro to the failed category.
