April 22nd 2011: Racing Bets Direct : Final Review
I have now completed a trial of the “Racing Bets Direct” laying system. The system is managed by Neil Gray, who also runs “Football Bets Direct”.
There are no system rules to follow or download; Neil sends a daily email with the selections, but advises that there will be days with no selections. The average odds of selections are quoted as 3.11 and a strike rate of 83.33% for the “last 11 weeks” (54 bets) is quoted on the website.
The system price is a monthly subscription of £58, although if you take advantage of the current trial offer the first month is £3.50 followed by future monthly payments of £47. All payments are via ClickBank or Paypal.
On joining you get access to previous results and a free excel spreadsheet to download with in-built staking plan, so that “no calculations are required”.
The system is described as “bet and go”; once the email is received the bets can be placed immediately and you can “walk away”, although there is a note of caution in that there must be a minimum of 7 runners i.e. non-runners can void the selection.
For this trial of Racing Bets Direct I have used the staking spreadsheet as advised adopted the “bet and go” method, with an advised starting bank of £1000 .
The first selection was on 22nd December 2010, and there have been 67 subsequent selections in the following 17 weeks, i.e. an average of 4 selections per week. The system produced 39 succesful lays, at average odds of 3.29 and a strike rate of 58.21%, which resulted in a net loss of £539.51 from the starting bank of £1000.
GOOD: the system is very ease to use: the emails arrive after 10pm the previous evening to the race, and it is very clear as to whether there are suitable selections or not. The spreadsheet which comes with the system is excellent, and helps ensure that all bets are placed and recorded appropriately. The spreadsheet keeps a running record of profit and loss, strike rate, average odds and stakes to be placed on the daily selections.
POOR: the suggested strike rate of 83.33% has never been attained, and has remained stubbornly below 60% for the entire trial. The average odds of 3.29 were inline with the quoted figure, however the net loss of over £500 has depleted the bank to less than half it’s original value, and despite finishing the trial on the longest succesful lay sequence of 5 bets (compared to the longest run of 3 winners on the bounce), it is difficult to see the bank recouping it’s original value.
Do I recommend this system. I would have to say NO. The system is easy to follow, but has not achieved the success quoted on the Racing Bets Direct website, and resulted in a net loss of over half the starting bank. I therefore recommend this system be given a FAILED system status.
